The seemingly insatiable demand for electrical and electronic products within the global market place is placing ever more stringent technical demands on the electrical/electronics engineer to achieve electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). These demands stem from regulations enforced to preserve the workable use of the radio spectrum, such as the US FCC regulations, or from legislation to allow free movement of products for trade – the EU EMC Directive. With the increase in complexity of electrical/electronic systems, EMC may also be of paramount importance to safe operation, for example in railways and medical equipment. EMC is therefore truly of international concern.
The EMC York 2004 International Conference and Exhibition took place in the beautiful and historic City of York in the UK on July 1 & 2, 2004. The EE Times ran an article on the event.
