EMC for the Information Technology Industry
Information Technology Equipment
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) concerns are generally well understood within the Information Technology (IT) equipment sector. However, advances in technology (higher frequencies and lower power electronics) can cause problems when updating previously compatible apparatus.
IT equipment is largely covered by two EMC standards, EN 55022 for emissions and EN 55024 for immunity. Our three laboratories near Bristol, Leeds and in Grangemouth offer pre-compliance and UKAS-accredited testing to these standards.
Manufacturers of IT equipment intended for harsh environments (e.g. industrial, railway) may wish to consider testing apparatus to standards specific to those environments (e.g. EN 61000-6-2, EN 50121-x). We can offer advice for specific environments.
We also offer fully accredited safety testing to IEC/EN 60950-1 for IT equipment Global Market access as part of the CB Scheme.

York EMC Services also offer training at various levels, from one-day Essentials courses through to five-day Fundamentals helping manufacturers and their supply chains to achieve and maintain ongoing compliance to a number of CE Marking Directives including the EMC, Low Voltage and Radio Equipment Directives.
