Testing to the EMC Standards (2 days)

This 2 day course* will be a valuable resource to engineers and technicians designing electronic equipment to meet the requirements of the EMC Directive, as well as those involved in the approvals process in general, and EMC compliance in particular.

The course includes a series of interactive demonstrations in the laboratory showing how the principal EMC tests are carried out and the test equipment required. These demonstrations are carried out in our UKAS accredited laboratory using the test equipment that is normally used to perform accredited measurements.

Small groups allow full interaction with experienced EMC test personnel.

*Please note that this course has previously been called the EMC Testing Workshop.

Bookings for this course can be made up to 7 days prior to the course start date. For bookings made closer to the start date, please call us for availability.

Your programme includes:
  • An introduction to EMC Standards
  • The summary of the EMC Directive
  • Harmonised EMC standards and how they should be applied
  • Commonly-applied emission and immunity tests
  • Testing throughout the product lifecycle
  • The practical applications of emission and immunity testing

Who should attend?

All those involved with EMC testing and design, including:
  • EMC test engineers and technicians
  • Electrical and electronics design engineers
  • Approvals engineers
  • Quality assurance engineers

What will I achieve?

Attendees will gain:
  • A thorough theoretical and practical understanding of the commonly performed emission and immunity tests required by European harmonised standards.
  • An understanding of how to select and apply the relevant European harmonised standards to your products to enable you to meet the requirements of the EMC Directive in a straight forward and cost-effective manner.
  • The chance to ask questions of YES staff involved in EMC testing on a daily basis.

Key Benefits

  • Presentations from experts on the EMC Directive and on EMC testing
  • Interactive presentations
  • Interactive demonstrations led by knowledgeable EMC test engineers in an accredited laboratory
  • Set in a UKAS accredited laboratory using all the relevant test equipment
  • A chance to find answers to those EMC questions from experienced EMC Engineers
